Video: Hadi Hajar

Concerto pour Piano et Orchestre N'1 - Composer Omar Harfouch

Concerto for Piano & Orchestra N'1

by Composer Omar Harfouch

Orchestration by Maestro Houtaf Khoury.

Omar Harfouch & Houtaf Khoury are composers born in Tripoli - Lebanon, and studied classical music in Ukraine at the time of the Soviet Union and then in independent Ukraine ( Houtaf in Kiev Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Omar  studied Piano and "matières théoriques " in Dniepropetrovsk Musical Academy Glinka, but the interrupted by the dislocation of the soviet union ). Closed friends since the childhood, they always wanted to work together. The Concerto N'1 is the first commun work. If all the melodies and musicality are by Omar Harfouch, the brillant orchestration shows the maturity of Houtaf Khoury.

Beauty Will Save the World

"In her fascinating, briskly paced video documentary, Pietra Brettkelly tracks the pageant with a sharp eye toward its implications." LA Weekly

Colonel Muammar Gadaffi was one of the most reviled leaders in the world. Libya still ranks in the Axis of Evil roster. Why then does this hotbed of anti-Americanism host the most iconic of Western competitions - a beauty pageant organised by Omar Harfouch .A first for Libya, anathema to traditional Muslim life, and even a burr in the saddle of many Western cultures, this battle of the beauties is guaranteed to produce some heated, if not scandalous, events.

AFI Film Festival-premiered, screened to acclaim at IDFA Amsterdam, Hotdocs Toronto and numerous international film festivals.
